Two matching grids, one focused drawing exercise.
A grid drawing worksheet breaks a reference into smaller visual problems. The same row, column, and coordinate appears in both panels, so you can compare where an edge enters a square, how an angle crosses it, and how much negative space surrounds the subject.
Start with four or six columns for larger shapes. Add more divisions only when you need finer placement. The printed cell-size estimate warns when the grid may become too dense for comfortable hand drawing.

Observe relationships, not symbols.
Instead of naming the object in a square, look for simple evidence: where a contour touches the grid, which direction it travels, and what shape remains around it. Move between the gridded reference and blank area using the matching A1-style coordinates.
